Dr Annie
Buckley-Bryant
Clinical Psychologist
My name is Annie and I am delighted to be working at TCT as a senior psychologist in our Autism Clinic. I grew up in Cambridgeshire and I now live with my husband, our young daughter and our tortoise called Nellie.
From a young age I knew I wanted to be a doctor working with children. As I got older I realised I’m quite squeamish, so maybe being a physical health doctor wasn’t for me! I’m a good listener, and I like talking to people to understand them and help them with their thoughts and feelings. So I decided to train to become a clinical psychologist. I did my undergraduate degree in Durham, and then my clinical doctorate at The University of East Anglia.
I now have over 10 years of experience working with children and young people, with particular expertise working in neurodevelopmental services. I have worked in various settings including CAMHS, children’s wellbeing services, school mental health teams, youth clubs, academic research and private sector therapy services.
I am passionate about taking a neuroaffirming approach to understanding a child’s individual strengths and challenges, and to help the people around them understand how to support them. Just like all of the team here at TCT, I aim to celebrate a child’s unique qualities, and do whatever I can to help them feel happy, safe, valued and to reach their full potential.
I love cooking (and eating!) tasty food, watching sport, and spending time outdoors. Whether it’s a walk in the park or swimming in the sea, I’m happiest outside!
