Emma Redman
Occupational Therapist
I'm Emma, a Paediatric Occupational Therapist here at TCT.
I discovered Occupational Therapy when I was 15 years old, during a work experience placement at a local hospital near my family home in Kent. I was immediately drawn to the way Occupational Therapists implemented creativity into their work, making interventions fun and meaningful for clients.
I've always had a passion for working with young children. As a teenager, I worked with a local specialist swimming company, coaching children with a wide range of disabilities to be safe in the water and delivering aquatic-based interventions. It was within this setting, I found my passion for supporting children with complex diagnoses, including Sensory Processing Difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, and genetic conditions such as Down Syndrome.
After graduating, I gained experience in forensic mental health, working in secure settings where I developed skills in risk management and multidisciplinary collaboration. I then had the privilege of working within a Children's Sensory Processing Service in the NHS. It was during this time that I truly came to appreciate the importance of family-centred care and the positive impact of collaborative working on a child’s long-term outcomes.
Alongside my clinical role, I am a qualified First Aid Instructor and a Practice Educator for Occupational Therapy students, two roles that allow me to support learning and promote best practice within the profession.
Outside of work, I enjoy activities that push the body to achieve incredible things, my top three being Scuba diving, martial arts, and long-distance running! I also love travelling and going on long walks with my partner, Bradley and our dog.
