Nyasha Chirimuuta
Occupational Therapist
My name is Nyasha (which is a Shona name that means ‘Grace’ in English). I was born in Zimbabwe; a beautiful country in Southeast Africa. I relocated to the UK at the age of 11, where Sheffield became my new home. I am now settled in Suffolk with my partner and our two wonderful children.
I have always had a passion for working with children for as long as I can remember. As the eldest of three siblings, helping others has always come very naturally to me. I was very fortunate to have a mentor in my teens who encouraged me to explore Occupational Therapy. Several work experience opportunities later, I quickly realised that Occupational Therapy was the path for me and so I completed my studies and became a qualified Occupational Therapist in 2017.
Professionally, I have worked in special schools and community settings within Yorkshire and London. My experience includes supporting children with a variety of physical and neurological difficulties such as; Cerebral Palsy, Neuromuscular conditions, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Sensory processing differences, motor coordination and movement difficulties and genetic conditions affecting movement and development.
My other big passion in life is cooking and experimenting with different ingredients and of course getting to enjoy the delicious results. Outside of work, I enjoy travelling and spending time with my family and friends.
